URGENT: SAVE OUR NATIONAL PARKS!
The Society’s Executive Committee and our colleagues in the Alliance for National Parks Cymru (that we were instrumental in setting up) have great concerns that the Welsh Government are rushing towards legislation that could dilute the protection of National Parks in Wales.
The Welsh Government’s “Future Landscapes Wales (FLW) Programme”, which is intended to make recommendations on the future of our National Parks and AONBs, has been running for quite some time. Although it has not yet officially published its findings the Alliance has gained access to drafts of its report and, although there is much to be supportive of, there are also several very major areas of concern.
A Welsh Assembly session to consider its recommendations has appeared out of the blue for Tuesday next week (28th March). Astoundingly, this is before the report is to be published, thus prohibiting the public from being able to lobby their Members on any concerns they may have or indeed any support they may wish to express.
Please follow this link to see the “Alliance Response to the FLW Report” for a summary of the situation and our concerns.
THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS THREAT TO OUR OWN NATIONAL PARK AND THE OTHERS IN WALES!
PLEASE forward the link to your Assembly Member or better still lobby him/her directly as soon as you can. You can follow this link to find contact details for your Assembly Member (if you live in Wales).
Thank you,
Jim Wilson
