Our recent talk by Collette Mooney of the Wye and Usk Foundation

At our most recent talk, members heard of the work of the Wye and Usk Foundation when Colette Mooney, “Salmon Lady” and Head of Education for the Foundation, came with Easi-scopes and specimens for us to look at, as well as giving an inspiring talk . The Wye and Usk Foundation is a charity with a passion for rivers, working to improve the ecology, habitat and water quality of the rivers Wye and Usk. Just as importantly, they are also sharing their enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, the rivers. They are actively involved in working with partners throughout the catchment areas of these two amazing rivers to deliver projects which benefit the riparian environment and provide diverse learning opportunities.
Colette goes into schools so that children have opportunities to experience and engage with the natural world first hand, inspiring them to take positive actions to help protect our environment locally and globally. All the sessions require the active involvement of the children as they explore river life, they are so busy enjoying themselves they don’t realise they are
actually learning too!
