Meeting Places

We give you three pieces of information to help you find the Meeting Place:-

  1. Meeting Point. This is a description of the place. It maybe a car park, a building such as a pub or church, or just a placename which can be found on an OS map.
  2. Grid Reference. This refers to the location as can be found on an OS Map and will take the form SX123456 and the OS map number.
Information on how to read a map and using grid references is given on all OS paper maps, or on the OS website - click here.
  3. What3Words. This refers to a free app you can download to your mobile phone. The three words refer to a 3 metre square anywhere on the world's surface! It is also possible to go from the W3W app to Google maps and get directions.

Why don't we use post codes?

Postcodes in rural areas cover a very wide area and so are not very useful for locating , say, a remote car park. We will sometimes give a postcode for a building or in more built up areas.
