Response to Welsh Government’s Consultation on Sustainable Management of Natural Resources.

BBPS in conjunction with the other two Welsh National Parks and representatives from many other organisations dedicated to protecting our Designated Landscapes (National Parks, AONBs etc) form the Alliance for Welsh Designated Landscapes (http://www.afwdl.cymru/)

The Alliance has submitted a response to the Welsh Government’s Consultation on the Sustainable Management of Wales’s Natural Resources.

The Alliance is very concerned that the Welsh Government is ignoring the ‘Sandford Principle’ (which states that the conservation of the environment should take priority in any decisions which directly impact it) to the detriment of the natural beauty which the National Parks and AONBs have been set up to protect. In addition, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature has expressed concern at the Welsh Government’s approach, which may lead to Welsh NPs losing their International Recognition.
