Fforest Fawr Geopark
Fforest Fawr Geopark, which covers the western half of the Brecon Beacons National Park, is a member of the European Geoparks Network and the UNESCO-assisted Global Geopark Network.
Its aims are to safeguard and enhance geodiversity, biodiversity and cultural heritage; to promote understanding and enjoyment of its special qualities by communities and visitors; to enable local communities and businesses to take advantage of these qualities in persuit of sustainable development and to act as a focus for education and research.
The Geopark helps protects our fragile environments. It is not only about rocks and landscapes but also about the communities, industries and people who have lived and worked here for 7000 years.
The Park Society supports the aims of the Geopark, is represented on its Management Group and works in partnership on suitable projects.
