Dismantled railway line above the A4067 as it descends from Bwlch Bryn-rhudd below Fan Gyhirych to Penwyllt.
Chris Playford ,on behalf of Powys Ramblers, plans to submit an application for a DMMO (definitive map modification order), claiming 20 years usage of the above path. Those familiar with the route, who have evidence of usage, are asked to email him. [email protected]”
Chris says “a large section of the dismantled line is marked with a red broken line, showing it to be a permissive route. I have used this route on several occasions over the last 37 years as it can form part of a good circular route when ascending Fan Gyhirych. However, looking at the map you will see that the permissive route at the southern end terminates abruptly just before it reaches the road at Penwyllt. There is a 250m gap! We used to traverse this gap without any difficulties. There was even a stile at the roadside in recent years. However, about a year ago access was denied by the occupier of the dwelling owning the land, and the stile was removed.”
