A successful AGM!

The AGM, held in Llanbedr, was a great success. Around 50 members and their guests attended. The AGM business included the election of new Trustees and the re-election (due to retirement by rotation) of some existing Trustees.

New Trustees:-

Richard Bennett – Treasurer, taking over from Ben Sladen
Derek Thomas – Membership Secretary – a new role created by splitting Ben’s role into two
Kathryn Silk – No portfolio as yet (!)
Roy Manning – No portfolio, although he has been working on the Tramroads Project.
Stuart Bain – Publicity.

Re-Elected Trustees

Martin Buckle
Richard Chandler
David Thomas

Jim Wilson thanked Ben for his many years’ service as Treasurer and he was presented with a framed lino print of the Brecon Beacons as a token of the Society’s appreciation.

After the AGM, Eliane Wigzell from Crickhowell Archive Centre gave an amusing talk based on her book Crickhowell 1881, about the people who lived in Crickhowell in that year. The book is available at the Archive Centre, Book-ish and the Crickhowell Resource & Information Centre in Crickhowell.

After lunch there were two walks in the area – The Foothills of Table Mountain, led by Phil O’Shea, and a more leisurely stroll around Llanbedr in the company of two local residents who talked about the history of the church and the village.

The next AGM will be held around this time of year in 2023 – details to follow.
